Senior Teen Joy

What is Senior Teen Joy?

Senior Teen Joy is a  fun, energetic, and creative  Intergenerational program on long island where our main goal and focus is to  bring together seniors, and teens to build new friendships and intergenerational connection and to learn each other's stories and have fun. We believe that when seniors and teens meet, new legacies are built. 

By the teens learning seniors' stories, they learn new things, and hear about times and events they have never experienced themselves. By teens hanging out and doing fun activities with seniors, they can create a really special moment by teaching seniors something that they didn't know how to do before, and by the seniors teaching the teens something they didn't know before. 

When you bring it all together, you get a really special product of teens making seniors happy and glowing up their day. Intergenerational programming has a powerful impact on both youth and elders by fostering meaningful relationships and mutual growth. 

For our youth, it promotes empathy, respect, and improved communication skills as they interact with older adults. They benefit from mentorship, gain valuable life skills, and develop a stronger sense of identity. 

At the same time, elders experience reduced loneliness and a renewed sense of purpose by sharing their wisdom and life experiences. Senior Teen Joy intergenerational program supports there emotional well-being, stimulated there minds, and allows them to stay connected to modern life through these one-of a kind programs of learning from the younger generation and vise versa.

Together these interactions create a sense of belonging and strengthen the social fabric of communities.

Teens this is for you: By coming and participating in our events you will earn 3-4 hours of community service. You will also have the opportunity to win tickets, for various acts such as being focused on a story that a senior is telling you and following the rules that are found in your handbook. 

Seniors this is for you: by coming to these events you meet new people and build friendships with the younger community. what we are hoping is that eventually We can pair one teen to one senior and you and your teens will be "Pen Pals" so you both have someone to talk to if there is ever a day when you are feeling down and just want someone to talk to and laugh with.
